New Delhi – “The book ‘Lajja’ was written against communal violence, and it was banned 28 years ago by Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. If Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was against communal violence, why didn’t she lift the ban on the book ?” questioned Author Taslima Nasrin.
After religious fanatics attacked Hindus for allegedly insulting Quran, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had called for stern action against the accused. Taslima Nasrin had tweeted in this context.
Lajja is about the atrocities perpetrated on Hindus by fanatics; hence, the religious fanatics put pressure to ban the book in Bangladesh. They even tried to kill the Prime Minister. Due to this, Taslima had to flee from Bangladesh. Taslima has been living in India and other countries for the past 28 years.
