Gurugram (Haryana) – Police have permitted the offering of Friday Namaz at 37 public places. The offering of Friday Namaz in public places is being opposed by the activists of Hindu organisations. Due to protests by Hindus, tension prevailed in a locality on 29th October (Friday). At the time of Namaz, the workers of Hindu organisations reached the place and started raising slogans, so the Police arrested 30 people. This has been going on for the last 5 weeks. The Police tweeted that some time back Hindus had permitted the offering of Namaz at some places, so we have permitted to offer Namaz in public places. Police deleted such tweets after Hindus objected to this statement.

Gurugram administration withdraws its decision to allow Namaz in public places after Hindus’ protest
3rd November : Gurugram administration has withdrawn its earlier decision of allowing Namaz in public places after protests from local Hindu residents and organisations. The ‘Hindu IT Cell’ responded to the withdrawal of the order permitting public Namaz and said that the decision was a victory for all Hindus. The organisation also mentioned that it had filed an RTI in this regard. Members Akshit Singh, Sahil Khosla and Advocate Abhishek Sharma also spoke up against the public offering of Namaz on social media.
As a result of the disturbances caused by the public offering of Namaz, a huge protests ensued where a large number of people including Hindu women came out on the road for 5 consecutive weeks, chanting bhajan-kirtan and slogans. Several representatives of Hindu organisations who participated in the Sector 12A protests were also detained.
