Dabur’s advertisement mocks Karwa Chauth
Lesbians are celebrating Karwa Chauth
Editorial Comment
As there is no law to take strict action against those insulting the Hindu religious festivals everyone takes liberty. Hindus are wondering when would the Central Government pay attention to this issue ! |
New Delhi – A lesbian couple is seen celebrating their first ‘Karwa Chauth’ in an advertisement aired by ‘Dabur’ for its product ‘Gold Bleach’. In it, a young woman is applying bleach on another young woman’s face. The two are also shown discussing the significance of the festival and the reasons behind celebrating it. The ad is being criticised on social media.
Hindu festivals and customs are the favoured targets for woke experiments. Why this rush to delink Hindu traditions from the roots ? @DaburIndia We hope you will withdraw this adv at the earliest. #BoycottFem pic.twitter.com/0ftIEhTdvp

What is Karwa Chauth Vrat ?
‘Karwa Chauth’ is celebrated on the Chaturthi (Fourth day) of Krushna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Ashwin. ‘Karwa’ means an earthen pot and ‘Chauth’ means Chaturthi. On Karwa Chauth, a new earthen pot is decorated and worshipped ritualistically, after this; the moon is worshipped by offering ‘Argha’. The Karwa Chauth vrat is mainly performed by Suvasini (married women). In some places, unmarried girls also do it to get a good husband. Karwa Chauth is mainly celebrated on a large scale in North India. On this day, women get up early in the morning keep a Nirjala vrat (Fast without partaking water) during the day, have darshan of the moon at night, worship it by offering ‘Argha’, after that the vrat is concluded by partaking water from the hands of the husband. In this, Deity Shiva, Mata Parvati, Shri Ganesh and Kartikeya are worshipped in the morning. Since Sankashti Chaturthi falls on this day, it is said that Ganesh Puja during this vrat has a special significance.
