Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) – Prabhu Shriram, Bhagawan Shrikrushna, so also, Ramayan, Shrimadbhagawadgeeta, and their authors Maharshi Valmiki and Maharshi Vyas are an inseparable part of India’s cultural legacy. Allahabad High Court has instructed the Central Government that it should pass a law in this context for giving due honour at the national level to this sacred legacy.
While granting bail to a person named Akash Jatav who had posted a matter regarding Prabhu Shriram and Bhagawan Shrikrushna in derogatory language on Facebook, the Allahabad High Court gave this instruction to the Central Government. Jatav was kept in jail for the past ten months for this offence. He has been granted bail during this hearing.
Justice Yadav said on the occasion that the derogatory statements made by the accused about great personages such as Prabhu Shriram and Bhagawan Shrikrushna have hurt the religious sentiments of the majority of people of this country. Such behaviour creates a threat to the peace and harmony, and its adverse effects are faced by innocent citizens. Besides, if the Courts did not take a strict stand in such cases, these people would become bolder, which will affect the cordiality in this country.
Justice Yadav added that the Constitution of this country is a sovereign and independent Code. Every citizen has the freedom to have faith or not have faith in God; however, those, who do not believe in God, have no right to draw and publish objectionable pictures of God.
