It is being claimed that an offensive post made by a Hindu person on Facebook is the reason behind this attack. After the Hindu man who had posted it received Police protection, the religious fanatics set fire to the houses next to it. Mohammad Sadkul Islam, President of the Dhaka Tribune, said the attack was carried out by activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami, as well as students from the organisation’s student body.
