New Delhi – A racket of religious conversions of Hindus is being run all over India. Two religious fanatics of the gang, Salahuddin Sheikh and Umar Gautam have been arrested by the Police. Both of them were involved in diverting foreign funds for illegal religious conversions. They received Rs. 60 crores through hawala. It is has been revealed in the investigation that they built 103 Mosques in 5 States of India.
Hawala funds were used to come via #Dubai. They also received foreign donations from UK, USA & UAE through a trust. Accused also got 103 mosques built in 5 states. The gang was active in Gujarat. Shamsher Singh, Commissioner of Police, Vadodara informed that in the last 5 years, the accused had received Rs. 19 crores as a charity. It was funded through hawala from Dubai to India. The funds were diverted as a charity by charity organisations in England, the United States and the United Arab Emirates. The funds were also used for anti-Government activities.
UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had arrested Umar Gautam in the forced religious conversion case. Later Salahuddin Sheikh was arrested from Baroda for funding this activity. Both of the accused are currently in a Lucknow jail.
Salahuddin is a Managing Trustee of the American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI) Charitable Trust in Vadodara. ATS from Gujarat and UP registered an FIR against them after they recently received information that this trust gathers funds from foreign countries.
