High Court dismisses plea of Muslim Policeman keep beard while on duty

  • Why don’t the secularists and the progressives who call India a secular country (but always oppose Hindus) speak against such Policemen ?
  • Instead of following the rules of the Police force, those who make such demands based on religion should not be inducted into the Police force.

Lucknow (UP) – The Court dismissed a petition filed by a Police constable Mohammad Farman, against the ban imposed by the Police on keeping a beard while on duty. The Court said, the image of the Police should be secular and that strengthens the unity of the nation. In the year 2020, the Police had issued an official order forbidding the Policemen from keeping the beard. However, Farman had refused to follow the order, hence a charge sheet was filed against him and he was suspended. To challenge his suspension and charge sheet filed against him, Farman filed another petition which was dismissed by the Court.

Farman had stated in his petition that as per the right to freedom of religion, he kept the beard. He had also submitted an application seeking permission for the same, which was rejected. So Farman filed a petition in the Court.
