Thousands thronged Kabul airport leading to chaos. Troops resorted to firing to get the situation under control in which more than 5 people were killed and many injured. However, some say 5 people were killed in the stampede. Several women not wearing hijab (a garment used by Muslim women to cover their heads and necks) were shot near the airport, but the Taliban has not yet confirmed it. The airport is currently controlled by the US Military. The United States is preparing to send 6,000 troops to Kabul. The Taliban has re-declared Afghanistan as the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” (IEA).
