Jaipur (Rajasthan) – Shahjada Salim has been arrested by the Police in connection with burglaries at Digambar Jain temple and Shiv-Mandir. He had stolen 7 Idols made of ‘ashta-dhatu (8 metals)’, silverware weighing about 3 kgs and other valuable items from these temples. Out of the stolen goods, 5 Idols have been recovered from him so far, and the other Idols and things, he had sold to Rahul Sindhi, a person buying trash; therefore, the Police have arrested even Sindhi. (The anti-nationals, who buy stolen Idols from religious fanatics and help them in a way, should be stringently punished. – Editor) Shahjada is a clever thief. He has confessed to the Police that he used to keep an eye on houses for robbing under the pretext of collecting trash and would steal upon getting the next opportunity.
Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Sumit Gupta said that on 7th August, Salim had gone to the temple under the pretext of drinking water. He hatched a plot to steal after seeing the silver Idols.
