New Delhi – The Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition by a 49-year-old Catholic Priest Robin Vadakkumuchery, from Kottiyoor Kerala, seeking permission to marry a 25-year-old girl, who he had raped. Priest Robin’s separate plea seeking bail for the marriage was also rejected. He has been sentenced to 20-years of imprisonment by the Kerala Court. He had raped the victim when she was a minor and a child was born from the rape. The victim had filed a petition in the Kerala High Court seeking permission to marry Priest Robin and it was rejected too. A petition was then filed by Robin in the Supreme Court seeking permission for the marriage. The High Court has taken a deliberate decision in this regard and will not interfere in it, the Court said. SC asked them to approach a lower Court.
