10 killed in an attack on a bus carrying Chinese engineers and workers in Pakistan
It included 6 Chinese citizens
China promoted terrorism in Pakistan, and today it is reaping what it sowed. It will be interesting to see what steps China will take after this incident.
Islamabad (Pakistan) – A bus carrying Chinese engineers and workers had blown up by explosives hidden near a road in Pakistan’s Kohistan region. At least 10 people including 6 Chinese citizens are said to have been killed. The bus was carrying 36 Chinese citizens. The death toll is expected to rise.
- The Chinese engineers, workers, and 2 Pakistani soldiers were travelling by bus to the construction site of the Dasu Dam, a part of the China-Pakistan economic corridor. The explosion killed both the Pakistani soldiers on the spot. The Pakistani security force has launched an investigation into the explosion.
- The locals repeatedly opposed the economic corridor in Pakistan. An extremist organisation of Balochistan has taken an open stand against it. A few months ago, a bomb exploded at a hotel in Quetta where the Chinese Ambassador was staying, but the Ambassador was unhurt. The blast was suspected to have been carried out by the Balochistan Liberation Army and had killed five people.

China demands an inquiry into the incident
Condemning the explosion, China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian asked Pakistan to investigate and arrest the culprits. He also demanded protection for Chinese nationals working in Pakistan. Earlier, Pakistan had tried to call the blast an accident; but, after the Chinese Embassy terming it as an attack, Babar Awan, a Parliamentary advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan also called it an attack.
