- China is trying to construct a highway from Peshawar in Pakistan to Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. If this highway materialises, then it will a part of the CPEC project. China is trying to extend this project to Kabul for the last 5 years. China was not getting successful because the US had its hold on the Afghan Government. Now, as the US is withdrawing from Afghanistan, the Afghan Government might open its doors to China.
- It is feared that the Taliban is likely to make a come back in Afghanistan as the US withdraws its troops. In such circumstances, Afghanistan needs a strong ally. According to the sources, the Afghan Government expects military assistance to its Army from the ally.
