The Minister said, ‘European countries, the US and China prospered economically but polluted the world. India is one of the countries with the least contribution in climate change. As a part of the Paris agreement, developed countries had promised to give USD 100 billion (Rs. 7.3 lakh crore) every year to developing nations to combat climate change, but for the last 11 years no tangible action was taken.
Various natural disasters, cyclones are the result of climate change. Hence, we need to focus on preserving biodiversity and find solutions for environmental challenges.
