France imposes a fine of 220 million Euros (Rs. 1,953 crore) on Google
Charged for establishing a unilateral dominance in advertisement market by violating the rules
Paris (France) – French Government has imposed a fine of Rs. 1,953 crore on Google for abusing its dominant position in online advertising in favour of its own services. France’s ‘Market Competition Regulator’ has initiated this action against Google.

The French competition watchdog said in a statement, ‘Google’s ad practices are horrible as it takes punitive action against its competitors in the market. A company in a dominant position is subject to a particular responsibility of not undermining the competition; however, Google is competing unjustly with its competitors using various malpractices’.
