Brazil’s President fined for not following Covid rules

Brasilia (Brazil) –The Governor of Maranhao State, Flavio Dino said, “Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro will have to pay a fine for failing to adhere to State’s health safety regulations related to Covid at a public event”.

Providing details, the Governor said, “A public event was organised in Maranhao City where President Bolsanaro was present. However, as the Covid guidelines were not observed at the event, a case has been registered against him. The law applies to everyone”.

The President has been given 15 days to appeal, after which the amount of the fine will be decided.

In a similar instance earlier, the Prime Minister of Thailand Prayuth Chan-o-cha was fined Rs. 14,000 for not wearing a mask at a public place. Recently, the fine amount for crimes such as not wearing a mask has been increased to Rs. 47,000 in Thailand.
