All Minority cells disbanded by BJP in Assam

Decision due to poor performance in Muslim dominated areas

• This is a commendable decision by the BJP in Assam. The minority community sees the BJP as one serving national and Hindu interest. So they will never vote for BJP.
• Instead of trying for minority votes, the BJP should try to get more votes from patriots and devout Hindus.

New Delhi – Despite winning a majority in the recent assembly elections in Assam, the BJP has not been able to make inroads in any of the eight Muslim-majority seats. Therefore, the BJP State executive has decided to dissolve all branches of the minority cell in the State.

1. In a statement, the BJP State president Ranjit Das said, “All committees of the BJP minority cells at the State, District and Mandal levels are being disbanded. Our party has women, youth and various other activists. There is also a minority cell which fielded candidates in some minority-dominated constituencies; however, at many booths in these constituencies, their candidates did not get even 20 votes”.

2. BJP State Minority Front Chief Mukhtar Hussain Khan said that he did not know the exact reason behind this decision. He said that the party did not get the votes as expected in many places.
