Wearing masks in vehicles compulsory, even when traveling alone: Delhi High Court

New Delhi – Wearing masks in vehicles is compulsory, even when traveling alone, according to an order by the Delhi High Court. The court observed that “masks are like a ‘suraksha kavach’ for preventing the spread of Covid-19 and its use has saved millions of lives”. The Delhi Government had made it compulsory for even those travelling alone in private vehicles to wear masks. The Government had also proposed to levy a fine Rs 500 if the person was found not wearing a mask. Four petitions were filed in the High Court to oppose the imposition of this fine. The Court, while upholding the government order, reprimanded the petitioners during the hearing.
