Husband to be held responsible for harassment to wife in her marital home ! – Supreme Court

Husband has the whole and sole responsibility of his wife. It is his duty to protect her. Now if the court has to tell even this then it reveals to what extent the Indian family system has degraded !

New Delhi – The Supreme Court noted during the hearing of a case that according to Indian system a woman resides at her husband’s home after her marriage. If any kind of violence takes place there, then her husband is primarily responsible for the injuries inflicted to her. The court denied anticipatory bail to the accused, who has allegations of beating his wife. It was the man’s third marriage and the woman’s second. The Court made the above observation when the husband’s counsel pointed out that the woman was beaten up by her in laws and not by her husband.
