New Delhi – A few days ago, in an event attended by Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Baba Ramdev had claimed that Patanjali Ayurved’s ‘Coronil’ has received certification from the Ayush Ministry under a WHO certification scheme. However, WHO South-East Asia Twitter handle tweeted that, ‘@WHO has not reviewed or certified the effectiveness of any traditional medicine for the treatment #COVID19.’

It is a fact that practitioners of allopathy across the world have a poor opinion of Ayurveda. Thus, it is necessary to see if IMA’s statements are biased due to thispoor opinion or if it is genuinely concerned about public health!
The Indian Medical Association has also opposed ‘Coronil’. IMA said that no officially certified organisation has approved of this medicine and challenged Patanjali Ayurved to prove the claim.
‘This whole episode is misleading to common people and an attempt to play with their health. How could this medicine emerge out of nowhere, while it took months to develop the vaccine? Who approved it?’, questioned IMA.
