‘Monitoring and regularising the OTT apps under consideration’ – Central government to Supreme Court
Various web series on the OTT apps regularly denigrate Hindu Deities, national heroes, and even the Indian Air Force and others. Several organizations have raised concern against this. Patriots and Hindus are not happy that the Government is merely considering action. The Government must take immediate steps to ban these activities and protect the image of the nation and Dharma.
New Delhi – Apurva Rahatiya and Shashank Shekhar had filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India seeking a directive to the government to set up an independent board to monitor and regulate the OTT apps. The Supreme Court bench headed by CJI S A Bobde had sought the government’s reply on the matter. Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain had submitted that the Government is contemplating measure to monitor and regulate the OTT apps. The Supreme Court admonished the government and said “We cannot accept mere contemplations. Everybody contemplates” and also directed the Government to submit a detailed affidavit in six weeks.
