Twitter deactivates 709 accounts after Government’s warning
These foreign companies have to be dealt with a firm hand. Hindus strongly feel that the Govt must crack the whip on companies like Amazon to make them stop the denigration of Dharma and Deities.
New Delhi – Under severe pressure from the Central Government, the micro-blogging social platform, Twitter has blocked the 709 accounts flagged by Indian Government as “carrying inflammatory and divisive comments“. Twitter so far had been defying the Indian Government but finally took this decision over fear of penalties possible arrest its senior officials.

- Twitter India assured the government that it was monitoring the issue, overseeing the list of such accounts sent by the Ministry of Information and Technology under Section 69A (3) of the IT Act.
- Senior officials of Twitter were warned that they could face up to 7 years imprisonment under Section 69A (3) of the IT Act. As Twitter acts as an intermediary, it is Twitter’s responsibility to follow the directives of the Indian Government.
- Out of the 709 blocked twitter handles, 126 Twitter handles were shared with the hashtag #ModiPlanningFarmerGenocide. 483 twitter accounts had Pakistani and Khalistani links and were involved in disseminating fake and provocative information.
