Patanjali and Dabur refute the allegations !
New Delhi – The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has claimed after a study that the honey sold by top brands in the country is adulterated with sugar syrup. These brands include Dabur, Patanjali, Zandu, Baidyanath, Apis, Himalaya. CSE said that the sugar syrup mixed for adulterating honey is extremely harmful for health. The honey sold by these brands contained up to 77% adulteration.

According to CSE DirectorGeneral Sunita Narain :
This report related to honey is based on the study conducted in Indian and German laboratories. Following which, our studies have also concluded that the honey sold by leading brands in the country contains a large proportion of adulteration. During this period, 77% of samples were found to be adulterated with sugar syrup. This sugar syrup is believed to be supplied by the Chinese firm Alibaba.
The honey samples were tested using ‘Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy’ (NMRS) of international standard. The NMRS test has been made mandatory for honey exported by India from 1st August 2020.
Bid to malign honey business! – Patanjali
Patanjali and Dabur have questioned the tests. In a response to this report, Patanjali’s Acharya Balkrishna claimed that Patanjali makes 100% natural honey and it is a plot to malign firms producing natural honey to promote the processed honey.
Test reports are sponsored! – Dabur claims
Dabur Spokesperson said that they produce 100% pure honey and had cleared the NMR test in Germany. He also said that their honey fulfils the 22 parameters set by them and the recent report seems to be a sponsored one.
