‘Women are considered prostitutes in Hindu Dharma’ – says MP Thol

Outrageous statement by MP Thol Thirumavalavan from Tamil Nadu

  • To make derogatory accusations on Hindu Dharma is considered as ‘so-called progressive, reformist and pro-Periyar nowadays. That is why Thirumavalvan has shown his hateful mentality by making this statement.
  • Since Hindus are tolerant, such statements are made about Hindu Dharma; however, no one dares to talk about other religions; because religious fanatics behead them directly.

Chennai – Thol Thirumavalavan, MP and head of  Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party which is considered to be a Dalit party in Chennai referred to  Hindu Scripture Manusmruti in an online seminar organised by pro-Periyar people and made an outrageous statement that ‘In Hindu Dharma, the place of women is kept below that of men’. The discussion was aired on YouTube channel called Periyar TV. Since the video went viral on social media, Thirumavalavan has been widely criticised.
