Chinese ‘Cat Que Virus’ may also get widespread in India ! – ICMR flags warning
New Delhi – Researchers of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have discovered presence of a Chinese ‘Cat Que Virus’ (CQV).Concerns are being expressed that this virus may spread in large numbers in the country. This type of ‘anthropod’ virus is transmitted through pigs and mosquitoes. Earlier, the virus was found widespread in China and Vietnam.
- National Institute of Virology in Pune and ICMR, researchers found antibodies of CQV in 2 samples out of a total of 883 samples. Both these patients have been exposed to CQV infection at any time in the past. Both these patients are from Karnataka. During the period from 2014 and 2018, ‘Anti-CQV IGG antibodies’ appeared in their body.
- Possibility is being expressed that the infection of the viruses in these patients came through pig or forest birds. The virus is also seen in domestic pigs in China.
