A religious fanatic kills a devout Hindu over a dispute of installing a Durgadevi Idol
Law and order in Uttar Pradesh is in the doldrums. People do not expect the killings of devout Hindus in the State ruled by Yogi Adityanath. The Government must take tough steps to avert such incidents.
Bahraich (UP) – A 60-year-old devout Hindu Shambhulal was gunned down by the religious fanatic on 27th July, at Bibiyapur village. This incident created tension in the area.
Last year, the religious fanatics created a dispute over installing an Idol of Durgadevi during the Navratri festival. Shambhulal was the head of Navdurga Puja Samiti. A plot to kill Shambhulal was hatched after the brawl. On the 27th of July, an argument erupted with Shaikh alias Salim, on this issue. Later, during the night Shambhulal was murdered. The Police registered a case against Salim. He is absconding.
