China’s envoys
Editorial
Sitaram Yechury – A leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) demanded at an all-party meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the Panchsheel Agreement signed between India and China be honoured. On this occasion, another leader of the same party, D Raja said, “It is important not to take assistance from the US to solve this issue”.
Although the two Communist leaders presented their observations at a meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an apparently honest (but actually cunning and hypocritical manner), these observations smelt strongly of apologetic of China. In the past, a proverb was popular in India – ‘When it rains in China, the Communist umbrellas open in India’. The Communists in India protest if anything untoward happens in China or against China. It is clear that the umbilical cord of Communists in India is tied to China.
If an individual is a follower of a particular sect, he says, ‘I belong to a sect first and then to a country’. Is it any wonder then that a Communist says he is a Communist first and then a citizen of a country ?
Betrayal by Panchsheel
Sitaram Yechury appeals to India to honour Panchsheel Agreement; but what about China ? ‘Panchsheel’ is a Buddhist concept. ‘Sheel’ is used here in the sense of good behaviour, and we can presume 5 simple rules of good behaviour. The former President of Indonesia, Sukarno, first proclaimed the use of ‘Panchsheel’ in politics, with the idea of promoting coexistence and peace.
The Panchsheel Agreement was signed after meetings held between India and China in 1953 and 1954. It was later ratified as the ‘Panchsheel Agreement’. The principles of the Panchasheel include recognising the territorial integrity and political sovereignty of each other’s countries, not invading each other, not interfering in each other’s internal affairs, treating each other equally and safeguarding each other’s interests, peaceful coexistence. Whenever there is tension over the border dispute between India and China, the Panchsheel Agreement is referred to in discussions. Although the term ‘Panchsheel Agreement’ is charming, it is believed to have been a big mistake made by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
India and China share an estimated 3,500 kms. long border. China’s mischiefs on this border used to create tension. In 1950, China invaded and occupied Tibet which was an independent territory. Fearful of China’s aggression or unable to understand China’s cunning moves, Nehru signed the Panchsheel Agreement. The Agreement was followed by the proclamation of ‘Hindi-Chini-Bhai-Bhai’; however, the major disadvantage of this Agreement was that India lost all its rights over Tibet under the Anglo-Tibetan Agreement of 1904. India also accepted that Tibet is a part of China.
After the Agreement on 29th April 1954, China built a road to Tibet in 1957. The road was built in Aksai Chin, which India considered its own territory. India remained in the dark about this. China had betrayed India. In 1962, China invaded India and swallowed up millions of square kms. of Indian territory, thus throwing the Panchsheel Agreement into the dustbin.
China and communism
The Indian rulers, especially Nehru, always preferred friendly relations with China. For this friendship, he took the position that even if some land or rights are sacrificed, it does not matter.
China has always believed in hypocrisy and betrayal. China’s strategy was never understood by the Congress rulers or they deliberately ignored it. It also suited the Communists in India. These Communists developed affinity for Congressmen who had adopted a soft policy towards China. China has already embraced Communism, which is against the laws of nature. There is innate cruelty in them. The arrogant attitude of Communist China is beyond human imagination. It is India’s misfortune that its rulers could not understand how much trust should be placed in China !
China has a monstrous ambition to swallow its neighbours. China’s borders touch 18 countries, and China has a dispute with all of them. China is claiming Taiwan and Hong Kong, which gained Independence from England. China is claiming many parts of India too. What’s more, if any Indian Minister visits Arunachal Pradesh, China gets terribly disturbed. During the initial stages of coronavirus crisis, when the world was in turmoil, China started war games. Japan and the Philippines are worried when China will invade them.
Yechury gave free advice to India to honour the Panchsheel Agreement with such a China; this shows the nature of his anti-India mentality. Why do Yechury and D Raja hesitate to criticise China even in mild words, for having wrought biological warfare on the world in the form of coronavirus ? Have these leaders, who advise India to deal with China in the spirit of Panchsheel, ever given such advice to their activists who brutally kill devout Hindu activists ?
There are many reports that many operatives in India are working for China. From these reports, it is obvious that such people are Communists only. Indians expect the rulers to keep a close eye on them, realising that they could create obstacles in a possible conflict with China.
