Will accept if Government offers Khalistan : Akal Takht Chief’s incitment

Lakhs of Sikhs in the country have opposed Khalistan. Thousands of Sikhs are fighting for the country in the Indian Army and were doing so earlier too. With its statement now, realise that Akali Takht is spreading separatist mentality among Sikhs.

The Sikh sect was formed to fight religious fanatics. It is a part of Hindu Dharma. However, falling prey to misleading propaganda by Pakistan, fundamentalist Sikhs have rejected this truth and are demanding a separate Khalistan. To bring Sikhs into the mainstream by reminding them of the Truth is a big challenge for the Government.

If an independent Khalistan is established, it would not survive even for a day. Pakistan will invade and annex it like the Pak occupied Kashmir. Why does Akal Takht not realise this ?

Amritsar (Punjab) – “All Sikhs want Khalistan and will accept it if offered by India; every Sikh wants Khalistan”, said acting Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, 36 years after Operation Bluestar. The Jathedar, responding to a question from media on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of Operation Bluestar, also said, “There is no harm if Sikh youth raise slogans in praise of Khalistan”.

Akal Takht is the supreme temporal authority for Sikhs among the five takhts (temporal seats of Sikhs). Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Gobind Singh Longowal also endorsed Giani Harpreet Singh’s stance.

It is probably for the first time that the heads of two supreme Sikh bodies – Akal Takht and SGPC – have openly supported the cause of a separate state of Khalistan. It is also significant that the remarks came on the occasion of the anniversary of Operation Bluestar, a day marked by the community as Ghallughara (genocide) Day.

The remarks also got support from Sikh separatists and the founder of radical Sikh organisation Dal Khalsa Gajinder Singh, who – believed to have taken asylum in Pakistan – posted a message on Facebook : “The leader of Akal Takht Sahib has supported Khalistan in his own style today. May God bless us with the ability to protect his statement”.

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Sunil Jakhar said those sitting on a position of respect should also realise the responsib-ility it carries. Ashwani Sharma, President of Punjab BJP said, “Not just Punjabis, but every Indian is religiously attached with Akal Takht, and those sitting on respectable positions should have not commented on something which hurts the unity and integrity of the Nation”.

Let us not forget !

The life example and leadership of Guru Gobind Singhji have been of historical importance to the Sikhs. He institutionalized the Khalsa (literally, Pure Ones), resisted the ongoing persecution by the Mughal Empire and continued the defence of Sikhism and Hinduism against the Muslim assault of Aurangzeb.

Guru Gobind Singhji believed in a Dharam Yudh (War in defence of righteousness), something that is fought as a last resort, neither out of a wish for revenge nor for greed nor for any destructive goals.

Before his founding of the Khalsa, the Sikh movement had used the Sanskrit word Sisya (literally, disciple or student), but the favoured term thereafter became Khalsa. (Source : Wikipedia)
