Burqa and manoeuvres
Editorial
Patiala Court rejected the bail plea of Safoora Zargar, a student of Jamia Millia Islamia University, who was arrested in connection with the Delhi riots. She is currently rumoured to be 4-months pregnant. All kinds of medical facilities have been made available by the Court to her; however, bail has been rejected. This is a good social message. The agitators of Shaheen Bagh are preparing to start agitating again. In such a situation, if women such as Safoora, who spread violent ideas are left free, the possibility of recurrence of violence cannot be ruled out. This should be the beginning of breaking the practice of ‘first take the law into your own hands and then find loopholes in it to get out of jail by claiming health problems’. Safoora Zargar in this case; looking back a little, Zaira Wasim, who quit the acting field so that rules of Islam are not violated and Ishrat Jahan, a female terrorist who was killed in a Police encounter in Gujarat, are some of the Muslim women who have become famous for their fanaticism.
Who is a supporter of Islamic women ?
When sometimes a Muslim woman is visualised, an image of a poor woman in a burqa comes to the mind. A kind of empathy is automatically generated due to the religious restrictions imposed on them. However, the above examples show how aggressive these seemingly victimized women are. From Muslim women who fight to get seats on trains or bus journeys to agitators such as the ones at Shaheen Bagh who took undue advantage of social empathy and overwhelmed the administration ! All are birds of the same feather. Muslim women students from Universities such as JNU, Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia, who were shouting anti-national slogans standing shoulder to shoulder with Muslim men, also fall in this category. Although burqa is normally worn to show that they are following Islamic customs, etc., when it comes to pursuing selfishness and religion comes in the way, bigotry of these women becomes even more aggressive as per their convenience.
Ishrat Jahan was a terrorist who was killed in a Police encounter. She received sympathy at many levels after her death. At that time, no one asked a question what she was doing with men in a public place by breaking the shackles of Islam ! Political leaders such as Jitendra Awhad started an ambulance service in her name. At the age of 19, she was killed in a Police encounter with terrorists.
Zaira Wasim, who became famous after her role in the film ‘Dangal’, also quit acting citing her religion as the reason. She now supports radical Islamic ideology through social media. She is also 19-years-old. What are the religious restrictions on these girls that they turn their backs on celebrity halo, income from films, etc. at such a young age ? Or has someone brainwashed them ? Zaira turned her back on her Bollywood career at such a young age; does this mean she has received financial support ? On whose support is she now making fanatical Islamic statements ? Safoora Zargar, who claims to be a student of Jamia Millia Islamia, gets all Government benefits of being a student, makes provocative statements that incite riots and is now four months pregnant – how can all this be connected ?
Even followers of Islamic beliefs do not say anything about all this. Those who pressurized Zaira Wasim when she acted in films are deafeningly quiet when Safoora Zargar appears in front of the media in modern attire.
All these women break social norms that women follow in Islam, and appear on social platforms, shout slogans along with other men, make anti-national statements; how is all this tolerated in Islam ? Are the restrictions in Islam relaxed for only those who open an anti-India front ? Religious politics is played in such a crooked and convenient way.
A 4-month-old baby had also died due to cold during the agitation at Shaheen Bagh. Who is using all such women ? Who told the agitating woman about the religion who was ready to carry a 4-month-old baby to the place of agitation and keep it in bitter cold ? Would any woman go to a place where the life of a recently born child is in danger, without a monetary allurement ? Who is using these women ? Who is motivating them to do these things at such an early age ?
In the case of the Delhi riots, action must be taken against Safoora Zargar. However, it is also necessary to find out who is giving her financial and social support to carry out anti-national and anti-social activities.
If it is not found out who is propagating anti-national sentiments in places like Universities, institutions such as JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, Dehli University will become launching pads for white-collar terrorists.
Today, these Universities have become mediums of vicious propaganda. Not that anti-India ideology will be eradicated only by taking action against students, but combing operations need to be carried out in these Universities. Earlier, participation of women in such activities was limited. Now, women are openly participating in all this. Understand that all this is a conspiracy to gain sympathy for the nefarious activities by using women as shields. This is why the role played by the Court in denying bail to Safoora Zargar is highly commendable. Further investigation in this case should also be conducted impartially and efforts should be made to punish the real culprits severely !
