10 years of imprisonment and a penalty of 5 lakhs for cow slaughterers in U.P
Government should strive hard for the strict implementation of such Acts
Lucknow (U.P) – The U.P Government approved a draft ordinance making a provision for the maximum imprisonment term to ten years from the existing seven years and maximum penalty to 5 lakhs from three lakhs. The Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1955 was implemented in the State on January 6, 1956. In addition, the photos of the cow slaughterers would be mounted on walls at public places. This Act would also enable legal action against the driver and the owner of the vehicle transporting cows as well as the owner of the cows. The offenders would also be penalised to pay the expenditure for the maintenance of the captured cows for one year.
