On the occasion of ‘Goa Day’ on 30th May, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and ‘FACT’ will jointly inaugurate
‘Online exhibition of pictures’ giving information on the atrocities committed by Missionaries on the people of Goa in the name of ‘Inquisition’
Panaji (Goa) – It was in 1961, that Goa was finally liberated from the Portuguese after a lapse of 450 years; however, the Indians are not fully aware of the atrocities endured by Hindus in Goa during this period. In the brutal rule of Portuguese, inhuman atrocities were committed on Hindus in Goa by missionaries in the name ‘Inquisition’ after obtaining the sanction from the rulers. Hindus were forcibly converted to Christianity, temples were demolished, a ban on producing Idols was imposed, planting the Basil (Tulsi) in the courtyard of houses was banned, a tax was imposed on tufts, women were enslaved. Such large instances of atrocities do not find any place in the history textbooks. Once known as the land of Parashuram, Goa has now become a land of pleasure-seeking. Therefore, to present the history of sinister atrocities on people of Goa and the fight given by them to preserve their pride, famous French journalist Francois Gautier has produced an exhibition. This exhibition has been made available on the website ‘www.goainquisition.info’. The inaugural function of the exhibition will be held on the occasion of the ‘Goa Day’ on 30th May at 7 p.m. This function will be telecast on the Samiti’s social media on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Hindu Janjagruti Samiti appeals to all Indians, including Goans to view the exhibition.
This programme is being jointly organised by ‘FACT’ of Francois Gautier and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. This programme will also be specially attended by Francois Gautier.
