Police oppose Amulya Leona bail petition before Karnataka HC
Amulya raised the slogan of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in a public meeting
Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Countering the bail application filed by 19-year-old student Amulya Leona, who raised the slogan of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in a meeting held at Freedom Park, the Karnataka Police submitted before the High Court that she is an influential person who may threaten and influence witnesses if released on bail.
The Police has also stated that Amulya, who was charged with sedition for raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans at an event held in February, might repeat the same. Amulya was arrested on 20th February, under Sections 124-A, 153 (A), 153-B, 505 (2) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). After being in Police custody for five days, she was subsequently sent to judicial custody and has been in prison since then.
It was further stated that if released on bail, she may participate and commit similar offences while opposing the CAA, NRC and NPR. The Police have apprehended that the student may also make provocative speeches to endanger peace and tranquillity in the society.
