Liquor sales worth Rs.100 crore in one day in UP and Rs 35 crore in Karnataka
It is a matter of shame for the country like India that has spiritual heritance
New Delhi – After the ban on liquor was allowed in the country from 4th May, a large number of people lined up to buy liquor. In Uttar Pradesh alone, liquor worth Rs. 100 crore was sold from 26,000 liquor shops. At other times, liquor sales in the State are around Rs. 70-80 crore per day. On the other hand, liquor worth Rs. 45 crore was sold in Karnataka.
70% corona tax will be levied on liquor in Delhi
The Delhi Government has imposed a 70% coronavirus tax on liquor sales. The Haryana Government has similarly imposed higher taxes on liquor. When the liquor shops opened on 4th May, those who came to buy them did not follow the ‘social distancing’. This created confusion in many places. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan expressed displeasure over this, while Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said if such a situation arises again, the entire premises will be sealed. He warned that action would be taken against those who crowded in front of liquor shops and rioters on the streets.
