Nationwide lockdown extended till 3rd May
New Delhi – In his address to the Nation on 14.4.2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Nation-wide lockdown has been extended till 3rd May.
On 11th April, the Prime Minister had video-conferencing with Chief Ministers of various States in which the need to extend the lockdown was discussed after taking into consideration the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
Highlights of Prime Minister’s address
- Till 20th April, all Districts, Localities, States will be closely monitored, as to how strictly they are implementing the norms. States which do not let hotspots increase, could be allowed to let some important activities such as essential services resume, but with certain conditions.
- On 15th April, the Government will come out with extensive guidelines on the implementation of the lockdown.
People who earn daily wages and fulfill their needs, are my family as well. It is one of my priorities to reduce their problems.
India has reaped the benefits of social distancing and lockdown. We have paid economic cost for it too. But this is nothing compared to the cost of Indian lives. - Even when there was not a single corona case, India had begun screening passengers from Covid-19 affected countries. If India had not adopted holistic, integrated approach, had not taken quick decisions, India’s situation would have been different.At the end of the address Prime Minister Narendra Modi exhorted people to take care of the elderly people, strictly follow advisories on social distancing, lockdown and use of masks, following guidelines of Ayush Ministry from time to time for enhancing immunity, use of the ‘Arogya Setu’ app., looking after poor families, being sensitive with employees and colleagues working with you and respecting the health workers and Police personnel.
