Get rid of opposition from religious fanatics
Editorial
After the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was approved in both the houses of Parliament and the President endorsed it, it became a law. Yet, protests against the law are increasing day-by-day.
Assam was the first to protest. Protests then began to spread in North-East States – Meghalaya, Manipur, etc. According to the Assamese people, this law can assault Assamese culture. The Central Government is trying to find out a way to tackle the situation. Assam has been facing the problem of Bangladeshi infiltration for many decades. Due to this infiltration, the process of registration was carried out under the National Register of Citizens (NRC) Act. Assamese people welcomed this since they had already demanded this process. But the religious fanatic infiltrators bribed Government officials and saved themselves by producing fake records. Since Hindus could not prove themselves as citizens, they were declared infiltrators. Now, if because of the CAA, the Hindus (who are refugees) get Indian citizenship, the Muslim infiltrators will have to leave the country.
Bangladesh has asked India to provide a list of Bangladeshi infiltrators. The question remains unanswered – are the protests taking place in Assam being carried out by Hindus ? As of now, violence in Assam has stopped. Religious fanatics have started protests against CAA by resorting to violence. These fanatics should justify their protests because in reality, there is no point of protest against CAA. In the Parliament, when discussions were on about CAB, Congress and other parties who are in opposition questioned – ‘Why can Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh not get Indian citizenship ? Home Minister Amit Shah explained, “These 3 are Islamic countries and no Muslim faces any atrocity there. The minorities in these countries face atrocities; hence, they seek refuge in India”. The opposition parties did not accept this; one can wake up a person who is asleep, but you can’t wake up a person who is pretending to be asleep. When the leadership of our country went into the hands of Gandhi and Congress in 1920, the appeasement of Muslims began and became their single-point programme while national interests started getting ignored.
This led to the Partition of our country in which over 10 lakh Hindus were killed, lakhs of Hindu women were raped. Even today, Hindus are facing atrocities in their own country and Hindu genocide is taking place in the aforementioned countries. Yet, Congress is not satisfied. Hindus and the country are being sacrificed every time for the sake of power. So there is a nagging doubt whether opposition parties are behind the protests of religious fanatics ?
Congress is shedding crocodile tears !
Religious fanatics incited violence in Murshidabad and 4 Districts of Bengal where Muslims are in majority. Five railway trains and many buses were set on fire. Not a single progressive, secularist or even the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee uttered a word on this. Does this mean that religious fanatics have the right to destroy public property and are doing this with some noble purpose ? Hence, opposing them would be against secularism – this is what such parties feel !
Once this violence stopped, students of Jamia Millia Islamia University incited violence. They set fire to Government buses, bikes and even destroyed Police vehicles. They attacked the fire brigade vehicles. From where does such a mentality come ?
Instead of protesting against this violence, Congress and other opposition parties are demanding an inquiry into the work of Policemen who tried to control violence with a lathi-charge. This amounts to treachery with the Nation. A few years ago, when Yogarishi Ramdev Baba lawfully agitated at the Ramleela ground in New Delhi against corruption, the Congress Government crushed the agitation ruthlessly at night when the agitators were asleep. A woman named Rajbala died.
At least now, people should realise that the sympathy exhibited by Congress (which crushed innocent unarmed agitators) for the fanatic rioters against CAA is nothing but shedding of crocodile tears. Students of Aligarh Muslim University and Nadwa College, Lucknow pelted stones at Policemen to protest the action taken against protesting fanatic students in New Delhi. Alertness of the Police prevented violence. Such alertness should be displayed everywhere.
There is no dictatorship in our country. Freedom of speech exists and everyone has the right to put forth his opinion; it is expected that this should be done lawfully and without any damage to public property. However, if anyone protests unlawfully and damages public property, the protests should be dealt with strongly.
If the State Governments are not taking any action against this, the Central Government should impose President’s rule in such States. The possibility of civil unrest in the country cannot be ruled out if such a mentality is not checked in time; remember that opposition parties will add fuel to the fire. Hence, the Central Government should take strong measures against this now itself.
