Jyotirmath organizes ‘Gomata Protection Maha Yajna’ at the Mahakumbh Mela

The yajna shala (sacrificial arena) set up for the ‘Gomata Protection Maha Yajna.’

Prayagraj – The Badrikashram Jyotirmath of the Himalayas, under the leadership of Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, has organized the ‘Gomata Protection Maha Yajna’ during the Mahakumbh Mela. This grand yajna will take place between January 15 th and February 14th. A total of 324 yajna kundas are being prepared for this event. 2,100 Brahmin priests from across the country will participate in the yajna.

To get more details, Sanatan Prabhat’s chief correspondent Pritam Nachankar, met Mukundanand Brahmachari, a disciple of Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati. He elaborated,

1. The Government must take the initiative to restore the honour of Gomata. The first step in this direction should be to ban cow slaughter completely.

2. The ‘Gomata Protection Maha Yajna’ has been organized to ensure the protection of Gomata. Through this yajna, offerings will be made to the Deities, seeking their blessings for cow protection.

The sacrificial pits (yajna kunds) prepared for the yajna.

3. Currently, hybrid cattle breeding is being promoted, which is unscientific. During the so-called ‘Milk Revolution,’ crossbred cattle like Jerseys were introduced. Although milk production increased, this milk is akin to poison. It is similar to how painkillers provide temporary relief but harm the body in the long run. Studies on the toxic effects of hybrid milk are readily available online.

4. Indigenous cattle are truly beneficial in every way. In ancient India, every Hindu household had a cow and would offer food to it. Even Deity Shriram and Shrikrushna practiced ‘Godan’ (cow donation).

5. Gomata does not merely provide milk; she nurtures us in countless ways. Efforts are being made by Badrikashram to promote the conservation of cow and elevate Gomata to the status of ‘National Mother.’
