Washington (USA) – Recently elected Indian-origin lawmakers in the United States, Suhas Subramanyam, Ami Bera, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ro Khanna, Pramila Jayapal, and Shri Thanedar, were sworn into the US Congress. This marks the first time that six Indian-origin representatives have taken the oath together in the US House of Representatives. On this occasion, Congressman Suhas Subramanyam took his oath on Shrimadbhagawadgeeta.

After the ceremony, Suhas Subramanyam stated, “My parents witnessed me becoming the first Indian-American and South Asian Congressman from Virginia. If someone had told my mother, when she first landed at Dallas airport from India, that her son would one day represent Virginia, she would have found it hard to believe.”
