Prayagraj – “This year, the River Ganga has more water compared to previous years. The Irrigation Department is releasing additional water into the river to maintain its cleanliness. Overall, the water in the Ganga is pure and fit for drinking,” asserted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, speaking to reporters after reviewing the preparations for the upcoming Mahakumbh Parva, emphasized that efforts are in full swing to ensure a clean and pure Ganga.

He clarified that comprehensive measures have been implemented to prevent factory sewage from being discharged directly into the river. For this purpose, purification projects have been set up at various locations to treat waste effectively.

The Chief Minister further stated:

1. Land allocation : “Thus far, lands have been allotted to 20,000 saints, institutions, and other organizations. The process of allocating lands to Pragyawals is ongoing, with efforts to allocate lands to new institutions by January 5.”

2. Pontoon bridges : “Out of the planned 30 pontoon (pipa) bridges for river crossing, 20 have been constructed and completed. The remaining bridges are expected to be completed by December 30.”

3. Chakar plates installation : “Work is progressing on a war footing to install ‘Chakar Plates’—temporary iron plates placed in the riverbed to facilitate movement on sand and prevent vehicle slipping.”

4. 24-hour electricity supply : “Round-the-clock electricity will be provided to the Kumbha Kshetra. Several electricity substations have been set up, with more to follow. So far, 38,000 LED lights have been installed to illuminate the area.”
