Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah embraced extremism; major revelation by a Pakistani writer
Islamabad (Pakistan) – Pakistani-origin Swedish scholar and writer Ishtiaq Ahmed has said that Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was never a democrat. Ishtiaq Ahmed, who has written several books on the India-Pakistan partition, shed light on some aspects of Jinnah’s life and ideology. He claimed that Jinnah adopted extremism and made statements about Pakistan becoming an Islamic country. Jinnah was not a secular leader but an extremist, Ahmed said in an interview.
Ishtiaq Ahmed further said,
1. Jinnah succeeded in the creation of Pakistan. The partition of India was not an easy task; however, he managed to sway leaders like Nehru, Gandhi, and Maulana Azad to his side. This shows his fiery temperament.
2. During the partition, Jinnah carried out religiously fanatical activities, which led to large-scale destruction.
3. Jinnah recruited a large number of Maulavis (clerics of Islam) into the agitation to press for the creation of Pakistan.
4. At that time, the Maulvis issued fatwas saying, ‘Anyone who does not vote for Pakistan will have their homes destroyed, and their funeral prayers will not be offered’.
5. Only due to Jinnah’s ideological stance, democracy could never take root in Pakistan.
Editorial PerspectiveIn reality, there is nothing new in this. The real question is when will the injustices and atrocities faced by Hindus during the partition be brought to justice ? |
