Samajwadi Party MP Ziaur Rahman Barq from Sambhal (UP) booked for electricity theft
Sambhal (UP) – Irregularities were discovered in an electricity meter registered under the names of Samajwadi Party MP Ziaur Rahman Barq and former MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq. A case of electricity theft has been filed against MP Ziaur Rahman Barq. This issue came to light during an inspection of the electricity meter conducted by employees of the electricity department. Barq has also been accused of threatening the department’s employees. Notably, two days prior, a significant Police presence was deployed to replace the old electricity meter at Barq’s residence with a new electronic meter. According to the Police, this precaution was necessary due to prior incidents of attacks on electricity department employees in the area. (This is shameful for the Police. In Muslim-majority areas, the lack of fear of the Police among Muslims emboldens them to commit such acts. Strict action must now be taken to instil discipline in such individuals – Editor) Electricity department employees also assessed the appliances in Barq’s residence and the electricity they consumed. The meter and related data have been submitted for further investigation. Action against Barq will follow upon the completion of the report.
