1. Narendra Singh, a resident of Katghar area, claimed that his ancestors had built Ganga Maharani Temple 250 years ago. There is registration of this temple in the Government papers dated 1905. Till 1950, puja used to be performed in this temple. The then priest rented one room to a committee which engaged Wahid Ali as the watchman of this temple. He stopped devotees from entering the temple and removed the idols from the temple.
2. Sajid, the son of Wahid Ali has claimed that the committee has been managing the activities since 1976. His father worked there for 40 years and was staying there; but since the last 3-4 days, locals viz. Rakesh Singh, his brother Narendra and other members of his family claimed the right to the property.
3. As per the Government records, Wahid Ali took control of this temple where pranapratishtha of the Shivalinga and other idols was done, The Muslim population gradually increased in the area; therefore, number of Hindus visiting the temple was affected and later puja was also stopped.
