‘80 crore Indians get free ration, which means 80 crore Indians are poor’ : Narayana Murthy
Kolkata (Bengal) – “We have to raise our aspirations; because 80 crore Indians get free ration, which means 80 crore Indians are poor. If we are not willing to work, who will ? The youth should understand that we have to work hard to bring India to number one,” stated Infosys Co-founder Narayana Murthy. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the centenary celebrations of the Indian Chamber of Commerce here. Last year too, Murthy had advised the youth to work 70 hours a week.

Points presented by Narayana Murthy
1. In Infosys, I said that we should benchmark our organization against the best global organizations. Once we do that, we will realize that Indians have a lot to do.
2. The world respects the achievements of India today. The world recognizes and respects you because of your achievements. This respect increases your strength.
3. I got a chance to work in Paris in the early 70s; but I was confused. Western countries used to talk about how dirty and corrupt India is. In my country, there was poverty, there were potholes on the roads. Everyone in Western countries is prosperous. Trains run on time. I thought, this can’t be wrong.
4. I met the leader of the French Communist Party and he answered all my questions; but I was not satisfied. I realized that a country can fight poverty only when it creates jobs. This provides planned income. The Government has no role in entrepreneurship. I also realized that entrepreneurs build nations; because they create jobs. They create wealth for their investors and pay taxes.
5. If a country adopts capitalism, it will build good roads, good cars and good infrastructure. At that time, capitalism had not rooted in a poor country like India.
