Three broken Idols found while digging a well near a Shiva temple uncovered in Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh)

Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh) – Near the newly uncovered ancient Hindu temple opened on Saturday in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, authorities on Monday claimed to have recovered three idols. The Shiv-Hanuman Temple in Sambhal was reopened on 14thDecember, reportedly for the first time after 1978.

Holding the three broken idols in hand, Sambhal Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shrish Chandra said these were found during the digging of well. There is an idol of Shri Ganesh, the other one seems to be of Deity Kartikeya, more details are being sought. There was debris and soil in the well. The idols were discovered when it was dug. The area has been secured so that excavation can be done smoothly,” he added. Locals believe that the temple is more than 200 years old. The administration and devotees have taken the initiative to improve the dilapidated condition of the temple. Acharya Vinod Shukla said that temporary worship is being performed at present; however, a permanent priest will be appointed soon. Efforts are being made by the administration for this.
