Trishul installed on street light poles by Bareilly Nagar Nigam

(Maulana is an Islamic scholar, while Mufti means the one who passes judgments as per the Sharia law)
Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) – Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Rizvi has alleged Bareilly Nagar Nigam of promoting only one religion after Trishuls were installed on the street light poles in the city. He has also warned to display green flags above Trishul.
In a statement submitted by Maulana Rizvi, he wrote,
1. The Municipal Corporation is doing good work by undertaking beautification of the city, but by displaying Trishul on electric poles and road-dividers, it is maligning the image of the city by propagating a certain religion. (How can the display of Trishul malign the city’s image ? He should be put behind bars for hurting religious sentiments of Hindus by making such a statement – Editor). Muslims won’t have objection if few other things are added along with Trishul to show identity of other religions. Every person will object to imposing symbols associated with only one religion on Government property.
2. It is a democratic country. It doesn’t belong to the followers of any particular religion. (Muslims remember secularism only when the Government does something as per Hindu Dharma. Why don’t they remember it while demanding various things for their own religion ? – Editor). The Constitution talks about giving equal respect to all religions. (For this reason, maulana should accept implementation of Uniform Civil Code in this country – Editor). Sentiments of the followers of other religions will be hurt if the Municipal Corporation promotes only one religion. (Isn’t maulana aware that promotion of only one religion during the last eight decades was hurting Hindu religious sentiments ? – Editor). Followers of all religions have a right to the Government property whether it is of municipal corporation or any other Government departments. (Muslim religious leaders remember these points only to suit their convenience – Editor).

3. Mayor Dr Umesh Gautam is liked by Muslims. He is the first person in BJP whom Muslims also help and vote for. He should not adopt discriminatory attitude. PM Narendra Modi’s slogan of ‘Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Vikas’ should be followed. If a particular religion is promoted, the followers of other religions would lose faith in Dr Umesh Gautam. (When a Muslim holds a high post, he first thinks about promotion of his religion and his brethren. Why doesn’t maulana say anything about it ? – Editor).
