‘The Constitution was changed 62 times during the Congress regime’ : Rajnath Singh

Strong criticism of the Congress in Parliament on the occasion of ‘Constitution Day’

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh slams Congress party

New Delhi – During the discussion on the occasion of ‘Constitution Day’ in Parliament, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh strongly criticized the Congress party. He said that the Congress members are talking about protecting the Constitution; but there is a need to understand who has insulted the Constitution. He alleged that the Constitution has been changed a total of 62 times during the Congress party’s rule. (It is ridiculous that the Congress, which has changed the Constitution 62 times, is talking of ‘protecting the Constitution’ – Editor)

Rajnath Singh said that when Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister of India, the Constitution was amended 17 times. During Indira Gandhi’s tenure, the Constitution was amended 28 times. During Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure, the Constitution was amended 10 times and during Dr Manmohan Singh’s tenure, the Constitution was amended 7 times.

Rajnath Singh alleged that the then Congress Governments made most of the constitutional amendments either to silence the opponents and critics or to implement wrong policies.
