The US refuses to provide bank account details of Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun to India
Washington (USA) – The US has refused to provide information about the bank accounts of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the head of the Khalistani terrorist organisation ‘Sikhs for Justice’. Pannun holds citizenship of the US and Canada. He is currently living in the US. India has declared Pannun and his organisation as terrorists. He is wanted in many cases. In this regard, India had demanded that the US extradite Pannun; however, the US has rejected it, as well as the demand to provide information about his bank accounts. The reason cited is the local laws in the US.

1. On 14th August, 2020, an alleged Khalistani flag was hoisted at the Moga District Collectorate in Punjab.
2. At that time, Gurupatwant Singh Pannun had announced that he would give $2,500 (about Rs 2.12 lakh) to anyone who hoisted the Khalistani flag.
3. Punjab Police informed that 2 people had committed this crime by mistake.
4. In this case, India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) had requested information from the US about Pannun’s bank account and mobile phone number.
5. The US administration has taken the position that ‘This crime carries a sentence of less than one year in US law. Therefore, we cannot provide information about it’.
Editorial PerspectiveThis shows that the US is not only harbouring Khalistani terrorists, but is fully supporting them as well. India should respond in a tit-for-tat manner. |
