Do not consider yourselves owners of temples : Kerala HC

Kerala High Court Rebukes Travancore Devaswom Board

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – The Kerala High Court has sternly criticized the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), stating that the installation of flex boards within temples, praising the Kerala government and the TDB, cannot be permitted. The court asserted that the TDB should not perceive itself as the owner of temples.

“The board functions as a trustee, responsible only for managing the temples. Devotees come for the darshan of the Deity, not to see the faces of the Chief Minister, MLAs, or TDB members,” observed the court while delivering the reprimand.

Editorial Perspective

The growing government control over temples has reduced temple boards to mere extensions of state authority. It is high time Hindus unite to demand the liberation of temples from government control.
