Maharashtra MLAs take oath while paying tribute to Deities, Saints and national heroes
Oath ceremony of 8 MLAs pending
Mumbai – On the second day of special session of the Maharashtra Legislature, the remaining 106 MLAs took the oath of office. On December 7th, 173 MLAs took the oath. Therefore, out of 288 in the State, 8 people are still pending the oath taking. Most of the 279 representatives who have taken the oath so far have taken the oath of MLA by remembering the Deities, Saints and national heroes.
Many MLAs including took oath of MLA remembering their idols including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj, Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar etc. Most of the MLAs took the oath with God as witness, while a few representatives took the oath saying ‘I solemnly pledge’.
Congress MLAs display the Constitution while taking oath
While taking the oath, the representatives of the Congress carried a compact copy of the Constitution along with them. After taking the oath, all the representatives of the Congress displayed it saying ‘Jai Samvidhan’.
Swearing-in ceremony of 8 MLAs pending
Uttam Jankar of Sharad Chandra Pawar group of NCP, Jayant Patil, MLA Vilas Bhumre of Shiv Sena, Varun Sardesai of Thackeray group, Manoj Sardesai, Shekhar Nikam of NCP, Sunil Shelke and Vinay Kore of Jansurajya Party were absent in the hall, so the oath taking ceremony of these representatives has not been done yet.
Features of swearing-in ceremony
1. 92 MLAs took the oath saying ‘Ishwara Saksha’, while 7 MLAs took the oath saying, ‘I solemnly pledge’.
2. Congress party’s Dr. Nitin Raut and Raju Khare of NCP Sharad Chandra Pawar took oath remembering Gautam Buddha.
3. Shiv Sena’s Abdul Sattar took the oath remembering Allah and God, while NCP MLAs Aslam Shaikh and Amin Patel took the oath saying, ‘I solemnly pledge’.
4. BJP MLAs Mangalprabhat Lodha and Satyajit Deshmukh took oath in Sanskrut.
5. Washim’s BJP MLA Shyam Khode, remembered late Dr Hedgewar, the founder of RSS.
6. BJP MLA from Dhule City Constituency Anup Aggarwal took oath in ‘Ahirani’ dialect.
7. Many MLAs took oath chanting ‘Jai Shriram’, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj. Some MLAs cheered for Goumata.
