Doha (Qatar) – “125 countries have been affected by the Russia-Ukraine war. Developing countries are facing steep prices of food, fuel and fertilizers due to the war. In the last few weeks, I have also seen European leaders talk about this. These European leaders are asking us to continue talks with Russia and Ukraine. Now the needle of time is moving from war to dialogue. We are looking for common links between ourselves, which can be exploited when the time is right. The need of the hour is to enhance diplomacy and not to cut it short as conflicts are escalating around us,” said External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at a conference organised here.

There is no issue of BRICS currency : Dr. Jaishankar clarifies

Dr Jaishankar said on BRICS (Organization of Countries of Brazil, Russia, South Africa, India and China) Currency, “We discuss economic transactions in BRICS; but India has no plans to weaken the US dollar. If the dollar weakens, it will harm the interests of both sides. India is America’s largest partner.”

Trump had given a warning about this issue. “I don’t understand what Trump’s statement on BRICS was about. We have clearly said before, India has never been in favour of a BRICS currency,” Jaishankar said.
