‘Mahayuti’ Government sworn-in in the presence of Saints and Seers in saffron atmosphere
Mumbai, 5th December – On 5th December 2024, the ‘Mahayuti’ Government was sworn-in at Azad Maidan in the auspicious presence of Saints, in a saffron atmosphere. Devendra Fadanvis took oath as the 21st Chief Minister of Maharashtra from Governor C P Radhakrishnan, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah; while Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar took oath as the deputy Chief Ministers. Union Ministers and Chief Ministers from various States and several prominent personalities from different fields were seen attending the grand event.
Turn of events
At 5.30 p.m., PM Narendra Modi arrived on stage and the swearing-in ceremony began with singing of the national anthem and the State anthem. Devendra Fadanvis and Eknath Shinde took oath in the name of God while Ajit Pawar solemnly affirmed. Eknath Shinde remembered ‘Hindu-rhudaysamrat’ Balasaheb Thackeray, Dharmaveer Anand Dighe and all people before taking oath.

Highlights
1. Devendra Fadanvis went up to where the Saints-Seers were seated and took their blessings after taking oath.
2. Before taking oath, Devendra Fadanvis performed ‘puja’ of ‘Goumata’ seeking blessings.
Invitation extended to ‘Mahant’ from 12 ‘Akhaada’
There were 40 prominent personalities such as ‘Mahants’ from 12 ‘Akhaada’ in Nashik, ‘Mahant’ of Kalaram Mandir and other Saints and Seers invited for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Government. A separate stage was set up for 400 Seers-Mahants from all over the country who recited ‘mantras’ bestowing their blessings on the new cabinet of ministers.
Dignitaries present for the ceremony : Bihar CM Nitesh Kumar, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Assam CM Hemant Biswa Sarma, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman, Union Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, BJP regional President J P Nadda, industrialists Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, actors Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and other dignitaries besides Dy CMs of other States
Many songs invoking patriotism and love and respect for Dharma such as ‘Aai Ambabai Gondhalala Ye’, ‘Ram Siyaram’, etc were played on the stage.
Slogans raised – ‘Jai Shriram’, ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai’, ‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar Yancha Vijay Aso’, ‘Hindu-Rhudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Yancha Vijay Aso’, ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Bharatmata ki Jai’, etc.

CM Devendra Fadanvis has gone through a severe period of struggle. ‘Laadaki Bahin Yojana’ is very good. Considering the response of women during the election canvassing, it was felt that everyone wanted Devendra Fadanvis. Devendra Fadanvis will work for Maharashtra’s development and implement good schemes, asserted Mrs Amruta Fadanvis, wife of Devendra Fadanvis while talking to reporters.
Eknath Shinde handed over the letter about taking oath as Dy CM to the principal secretary of the Governor
Eknath Shinde’s taking oath as deputy CM was being discussed till the last moment. Finally, he took the decision of taking oath as a Dy CM. Uday Samant went to Raj Bhavan with a letter from Devendra Fadanvis about Eknath Shinde’s taking oath as a Dy CM which he handed over to the Governor’s principal secretary.
Devendra Fadanvis went for ‘Darshan’ of Siddhivinayak before taking oath as CM
Before taking oath as the State Chief Minister, Devendra Fadanvis went to the famous Siddhivinayak Mandir for ‘Darshan’. He said on the occasion that he experienced inner happiness and joy by paying obeisance to Shri Ganesh. He prayed to Shri Ganesh for the welfare, prosperity and development of the State and the country.
More than 5000 police staff deployed for swearing-in ceremony
More than 5000 Police staff was deployed for the swearing-in ceremony at the venue; thus, south Mumbai looked like a Police encampment. There were SRPF (State Reserved Police Force) staff, rapid action force, riot-control squad along with the Police, besides ‘Delta’, ‘Combat’, bomb detection and disposal squad. Traffic Police managed the traffic to avoid traffic jams. Police had appealed to people to use public transport system to go for swearing-in ceremony since there was no parking facility at the venue.
Mumbai Police took precaution to maintain law and order and to avoid any kind of sabotage at the time of swearing-in ceremony. There were 520 officers and 3500 staff including 5 additional Police Commissioners, 15 Dy Commissioners, and 29 Assistant Commissioners positioned at the venue.
