Concerns raised in the UK parliament over attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh
Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Members of the UK House of Commons have voiced serious concerns about the ongoing attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
It is Britain’s responsibility to take action against Bangladesh – MP Bob Blackman
Bob Blackman, a Conservative MP, highlighted that efforts to eliminate Hindus in Bangladesh have intensified following Sheikh Hasina’s removal from power. He pointed out that Hindus’ homes have been burned, their shops and properties vandalised, and priests arrested. Blackman asserted that Britain has a moral responsibility to act, given its historical role in the creation of Bangladesh. We are aware of the Indian Government’s concerns – UK Foreign Minister
Foreign Minister Catherine West, who visited Bangladesh last month, informed the UK Parliament that the Yunus-led Government in Bangladesh had assured her of steps to protect minority rights. (Note that the UK Foreign Minister visits Bangladesh and raises concerns about the safety of Hindus, but no such effort is made by India – Editor) She added, “We are aware of the Indian Government’s concerns regarding this issue.”
Our sympathies are with the Hindus in Bangladesh – MP Priti Patel
Priti Patel, another Conservative MP, stated that the violence in Bangladesh continues unabated, and the Government there appears incapable of stopping it. She expressed deep distress over the situation and said, “Our sympathies are with the minority Hindus in Bangladesh.” Barry Gardiner, an MP from the Labour Party, mentioned that the British Government is closely monitoring the situation in Bangladesh.
